Terms and Conditions – Narrative Imperative

  1. Information on how to enter and prizes form part of these Terms and Conditions. Participation in this competition is deemed acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.

  2. Entry is open to individuals with a New Zealand postal address or New Zealand citizens living abroad.

  3. To enter, individuals must, during the competition period, enter using this form.

  4. The format and theme of the entry is at the writer’s discretion but must be associated with one of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

  5. There is no minimum word count but the entries must be no more than 1500 words.

  6. Competition commences on 15/04/2021 NZT and ends at 11.59pm on 28/05/2021.

  7. All entries will be published on the www.narrativeimperative.org website and the top 50 submissions will be included in a Narrative Imperative book.

  8. All entries will be available to view online and disseminated to the public.

  9. Incomplete or indecipherable entries will be deemed invalid.

  10. Entrants may submit as many entries as they wish, but each entry must be submitted as a separate entry.

  11. The Entrant may elect for their entry to be published anonymously.

N-Prize

  1. Entries will be automatically eligible to be participants for the N-Prize.

  2. There is one (1) People’s Choice Prize available.

  3. The prize consists of one payment of $2,500 which will be paid on the 20th of the month following the announcement of the winning submission.

  4. Selection will be conducted by way of public vote subject to N-Prize voting terms and conditions.

  5. The Prize Winner will be notified by email.

  6. The Prize decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

N-Prize Voting Terms and Conditions

The below terms and conditions apply to the voting for N-Prize.

  1. Voting opens at 11am on 9 June 2021 and closes at 11:59pm on 25 June 2021.

  2. Only individuals with a New Zealand postal address or New Zealand citizens living abroad are eligible to vote. Voting is limited to one vote per person.

  3. Votes will only be accepted via an online voting system decided by the Organiser and not by any other means, including, but not limited to, postal mail, email, phone, social media etc.

  4. Once a vote has been submitted, it may not be changed or withdrawn.

  5. The Organiser takes no responsibility for any votes which are not submitted correctly before voting closes.

  6. The Entry with the highest number of valid votes (submitted in accordance with these terms and conditions) will, subject to any overriding decision of the the Organiser (which may be exercised in its sole and absolute discretion), be the recipient of the N-Prize.

  7. The Organiser reserves the right to disqualify a vote or an Entry if evidence is discovered that any of the votes submitted for that Applicant have been procured, generated, or submitted fraudulently or as a result of improper vote sourcing methods or otherwise in breach of these terms and conditions, or in any manner that the Organiser in its sole discretion considers to be inappropriate or contrary to the spirit of N-Prize.

  8. The Organiser reserves the right to check the eligibility of votes, the validity of votes and monitor any irregular voting record or pattern in any way it deems appropriate.

  9. The Organiser's decision about the votes and on any aspects of the voting will be final and binding. No correspondence will be entered into.

General

  1. The Organiser reserves the right, at any time, to to disqualify any entrant who submits an entry that is not in accordance with these Terms and Conditions or who tampers with the entry process. Failure by the Organiser to enforce any of its rights at any stage does not constitute a waiver of those rights.

  2. If the N-prize is unavailable, the Organiser, in its discretion, reserves the right to substitute the prize with a prize to the equal value and/or specification, subject to any written directions from a regulatory authority.

  3. If this competition is interfered with in any way or is not capable of being conducted as reasonably anticipated due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of the Organiser, the Organiser reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to the fullest extent permitted by law (a) to disqualify any entrant; or (b) subject to any written directions from a regulatory authority, to modify, suspend, terminate or cancel the competition, as appropriate.

  4. Any cost associated with accessing the competition is the entrant’s responsibility and is dependent on the Internet service provider used.

  5. Except for any liability that cannot be excluded by law, the Organiser excludes all liability (including negligence), for any personal injury; or any loss or damage (including loss of opportunity); whether direct, indirect, special or consequential, arising in any way out of the competition, including, but not limited to, where arising out of the following: (a) any technical difficulties or equipment malfunction (whether or not under the Organiser’s control); (b) any theft, unauthorised access or third party interference; (c) any entry or prize claim that is late, lost, altered, damaged or misdirected (whether or not after their receipt by the Organiser) due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of the Organiser; (d) any variation in prize value to that stated in these Terms and Conditions; (e) any tax liability incurred by a winner or entrant; or (f) use of a prize.

  6. The Organiser collects personal information in order to conduct the competition and may, for this purpose, disclose such information to third parties, including, but not limited to, prize suppliers and as required, to New Zealand regulatory authorities. Entry is conditional on providing this information. The Organiser may, for an indefinite period unless otherwise advised, use the information for promotional, marketing and publicity purposes including sending electronic messages or telephoning the entrant. Entrants should direct any request to access, update or correct information to the Organiser. All entries become the property of the Organiser.
